When we purchased our current home I was four months pregnant when we moved so the nursery became our first project. I had so much fun putting together this room! It became a scavenger hunt to find a good mix of old and new.
Going with an Americana theme, we started by adding crown molding, new baseboards, closet and closet doors, lighting, hardware, and recovering the current roman shade.
The vintage dresser received a new coat of paint and hardware. The hanging yellow “American” produce scale, sailor outfit, 1960 MN license plate, and red truck were all vintage finds. The radio flyer wagon on the wall holds a special place in my heart… it was the wagon my parents bought for my brother and I, 26 years ago, now converted to a shelf. It holds my Hubby’s first home run baseball from when he was a little guy, a vintage American story book from 1930, and a maternity picture.
I painted one of my very favorite bible verses onto a wooded sign the Hubby helped make . The ladder behind the grey rocker holds blankets made by Aunties and Grandma. Instead of a guest book at the baby shower, guests signed the baseballs that now sit in a basket on the red child’s chair. The nursery is one of my favorite spots in our home.
