We have a finished swing set! Last weekend we were blessed with a beautiful warm fall day, it reached 83 on Sunday (In mid-October!!!). We couldn’t have asked for better weather and enjoyed our last few warm days saying goodbye to summer. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the swing set reassembled; the hubby did an amazing job remembering how each piece went back together.
Little J went down for a nap after we had the 4 posts of the clubhouse put in place. We were able to get most of the clubhouse finished before he woke up. I brought him outside to see the progress and the look on his face was priceless. It clicked; he looked at his semi-finished swing set and realized it was his very own “playground” with a “slide slide.” He runs over to the ladder, starts climbing and zips down the slide. We didn’t have guard rails installed yet, so I nervously stayed by his side while the hubby screwed on the side pieces.
We attached the cross beam for the swings and the rock wall. I touched up the paint in a few areas while the sunshine dried Little J’s clothes and he unloaded dirt from his wheelbarrow.
We need to replace one piece of wood that was rotted beyond repair, but will wait until spring. A good cleaning and fresh paint brought new life back to this swing set.
We wrapped up the last days of summer cooking hot-dogs over a fire and enjoying smores.
A perfect ending to a busy and productive warm weekend as fall makes its first appearance.
